“The public does not know the true breadth of our enterprise, but soon it will recognize the extraordinary nature of 51,” May said in a video inviting all faculty and staff to the event.
At the 2020 Kickoff Celebration, the chancellor will share a look at what the coming decade will bring for 51, including how faculty and staff can continue to bring recognition to the university.
David Lubarsky, vice chancellor of Human Health Sciences and CEO of 51 Health, will host a similar event on the Sacramento campus, and he and May will share the stage for a brief conversation through a video simulcast.
Attendees will also be able to experience 51’ research in virtual reality, listen to the university’s podcast, Unfold, and share their own stories about the power of 51. Other interactive preshow activities will include the opportunity to fill a packet of seeds to grow your own selections from the 51 Arboretum and Public Garden, or to take home vegetables from the Student Farm. The event will include giveaways of 51-branded items, and refreshments will be served.
